Afternoon @ the UT

Fine art satin metal print of Afternoon @ the UT. I was struck by the afternoon light at the UT (Union Terminal, now the Cincinnati Museum Center) and how it illuminated the fountain and haloed the figures and architectural elements. I wanted to capture the moment and the atmosphere. I wanted to improve on my reference photographs which rendered the architecture and people as very dark and flat from the backlighting. So, I painted the background elements with cool blue and turquoise tones mixed with a cool red. I painted the foreground elements with warmer tones to help create a sense of distance and more energy in the painting. The original watercolor on Arches paper is for sale upon request of the artist.
